General staffing sector sees jobs boost, jobs as a whole see slight decline

General staffing roles saw a 6% month-on-month boost in job numbers in February, says a new report from recruiter Adecco, which also shows a slight decline in the overall volume of advertised vacancies in February.

This growth in general staffing was driven primarily by the retail sectors positive performance, which saw a 15% increase in permanent vacancies.

Other notable areas of growth include IT & telecoms, as well as the public sector, which saw growth in the number of temporary contracts advertised.

Steven Kirkpatrick, managing director of Adecco, says: As expected, there has been a slight decline in advertised temporary roles compared to Januarys traditional increase.

However, the decline is minimal, supporting the results of our recent research which found that companies have handled the introduction of the Agency Worker Regulations very well and have generally found it to have little impact on their business.
